ABOUT ERIC DEFEO

Eric’s entrepreneurial spirit started long before DeFeo’s Landscaping. At just six years old, he went door to door around his neighborhood selling handmade paper airplanes. After seeing someone mowing a lawn, Eric quickly realized there might be a better business opportunity; he could make more money mowing lawns than selling paper airplanes. Years later, when it was time to save for his first car, he remembered that lesson. Eric began knocking on doors and offering to mow lawns, hauling his mower from job to job in the trunk of a 1978 Ford LTD. What started with a mower, a car, and a willingness to work would ultimately become DeFeo’s Landscaping & Lawn Care.

While building his lawn business, Eric worked his way through college and earned an Art degree from Texas A&M University–Commerce. After graduation, he became a high school art teacher while continuing to grow DeFeo’s Landscaping on the side. Eventually, the business had grown enough for Eric to pursue it full time. Over the decades, DeFeo’s Landscaping expanded from a one-man lawn service into a full-service landscaping company with a dedicated crew serving homeowners and businesses throughout multiple North Dallas communities.

As the company grew, so did its capabilities. What began with mowing and lawn care evolved into landscape design and, ultimately, complete outdoor living. Today, DeFeo’s Landscaping designs and builds custom landscapes, patios, pergolas, outdoor kitchens, fireplaces, fire pits, retaining walls, and outdoor entertainment spaces. Eric’s background in art remains an important part of his work, influencing his eye for proportion, color, texture, balance, and the details that make each property unique.

Outside of DeFeo’s Landscaping, Eric serves as a Ministry Coordinator at Living Hope Baptist Church, where he oversees the church grounds and serves across multiple ministries. His role allows him to use his leadership, creativity, and artistic abilities in new ways while giving back to his church and community.

Eric is also a husband and father of two. He and his wife enjoy traveling and exploring the world with their family, finding inspiration in the different cultures, landscapes, gardens, and architecture they encounter. Those experiences continue to influence his creativity and can often be seen reflected in his work.

From selling paper airplanes at six years old to building a company that has served North Texas for more than four decades, Eric’s story has always been rooted in creativity, hard work, and an entrepreneurial drive to build something lasting.
